Overview

This motorcycle adventure to the stunning Humantay Lagoon is one you’ll never forget.
The route offers breathtaking landscapes, with more than 60% of the ride on wide, well-maintained roads that form part of the Southern Pan-American Highway. As you ride deeper into the Andes, the scenery becomes more dramatic, building anticipation for the jewel at the end of the road: Humantay Lagoon.

Nestled on the slopes of the Humantay Mountain, this turquoise lake was born from the glacial melt of the snowcapped peaks of the Vilcabamba mountain range, the same range that includes the mighty Salkantay. The lagoon’s vibrant color comes from mineral-rich waters, and its maximum depth reaches approximately 4 meters—though its beauty runs far deeper.

Sitting at 4,180 meters above sea level, Humantay Mountain is a glaciated giant, with active ice tongues and surreal features like shimmering seracs, natural ice cracks, caves, and even stalactites and stalagmites of ice. This high-altitude wonderland is also home to diverse Andean flora and fauna, offering a unique connection to nature as you take in the silence and majesty of the landscape.

Whether you’re chasing the ride or the view—this is the kind of journey that stays with you forever.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - Mollepata - Humantay - Mollepata - Cusco

This isn’t your average tour—this is a high-altitude, throttle-open Andean challenge.
We kick things off at our base in Cusco, where the bikes are prepped and the guide gives you a few quick riding tips. Once the engines roar, we ride out—3 hours of raw road ahead, climbing out of the valley and tearing through high mountain terrain.

Our first checkpoint: Mollepata (3,850 m.a.s.l.). We stop here to throw down a solid breakfast—local, hearty, and made to fuel the climb. Then it’s back in the saddle for 30 more minutes on rugged dirt roads, winding through wild Andean scenery toward Soraypampa. The trail gets rough, but so do we.

At Soraypampa, it’s time to park the bikes and hit the trail. The hike to Laguna Humantay begins—4,200 meters above sea level. The path? Steep. The air? Thin. The views? Next level. After 1.5 hours of trekking, the reward is epic: a glacier-fed, turquoise lagoon nestled beneath the snow-covered Humantay and Salkantay peaks. It’s a spot straight out of a dream—or a biker’s version of heaven.

We’ll take time to breathe it all in, snap some killer photos, and embrace the stillness… before descending back to Soraypampa. From there, we hit Mollepata one last time for a buffet lunch—you’ve earned it. After a short rest, we twist the throttle and roll back to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 p.m., dusty, tired, and totally alive.

This is more than a ride. It’s a full-throttle assault on the senses—high altitude, high impact, and 100% unforgettable.
