This Maras Moray quad bike tour is an easier downhill experience ideal to do while you acclimatize in Cusco before embarking on a trip to Machu Picchu or Rainbow Mountains. Our local experts have years of experience in guiding this tour and are trained on first aid.

Our ATV Tour starts in Cruz Pata. We will then do a down hill ride to the salt mines of Maras. After the tour here, we will continue the ride through beautiful landscapes to Moray. 

It is highly recommended that you carry a bottle of water and some snacks. 

Maras:

The salt mines of Maras are pre Inca sites which are active even today. These geometric shaped salt puddles nestle on the slope of a hill. They are among the most photographed sites in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. 

The local people here continue the traditional salt farming method as their ancestors. They let in natural spring waters into these puddles and wait for it to evaporate. When it does, it leaves behind crystals of salt which are manually scrapped out. 

Maras salt is pinkish in color and has a distinct taste. 

Moray:

The circular farming terraces of Moray are an unmissable sight. This archaeological site was used as an agricultural laboratory. It has different levels and each level is believed to have different temperatures. 

The Incas experimented with different crops here to determine the best weather condition needed to grow a crop. 

There is a difference of 20 degrees celsius from the top level to the bottom.
