Rainbow Mountain Motorcycle Tour from Cusco

We arrive by motorcycle very close to the Seven-Colored Mountain (Vinicunca); the walk from the parking area to the mountain itself takes about 10 minutes.

This motorcycle journey to the Seven-Colored Mountain (Vinicunca) begins on paved roads, leading as far as Cusipata. From there, it continues along dirt paths that wind through traditional villages, such as Chilliuani. Along the way, you may spot llamas, alpacas, and herders dressed in their traditional attire. This final dirt stretch offers spectacular views of the mountain; you will see the vegetation gradually disappear, giving way to snow-capped peaks as you reach an altitude of nearly 5,000 meters (13,200 ft).

Itinerary

🌈Stage 01Day 01: Cusco – Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Adventure - Cusco

We depart from our office in Cusco, located very close to the city’s main square (Plaza de Armas). We set off at 7:00 a.m., heading south along the Pan-American Highway. After approximately two hours, we arrive in Cusipata; from there, the route continues along dirt roads toward Pulapatahuasi (4,600 m). Next, we tackle a more technical section that ascends to 5,000 meters, followed by a 10-minute walk to the Mountain of Colors (Vinicunca, 5,080 m / 16,600 ft), where llamas and alpacas await, perfect for capturing memorable photographs.

Optional: Explore the Red Valley (30 PEN), an additional 1-hour round-trip hike through terrain defined by its intense reddish hues and high-Andean landscapes.

Optional VINICUNCA stage: An off-road ride at an altitude of 5,000 meters (a 20-minute journey, one way, to the moto parking area), reserved for expert riders only.

Afterward, we return to Cusipata to enjoy a “semi-buffet” style lunch (included), followed by the trip back to Cusco (arriving at approximately 5:30 p.m.).
