Tour Details

On this 2 days tour you’ll visit the most iconic Inca sites of the Sacred Valley and the citadel of Machu Picchu. On the first day you’ll explore Pisac and Ollantaytambo. Pisac is a large archaeological complex built during the reign of Inca Pachacutec. Its buildings served as residences to the Inca royal family and priests. On the other hand, Ollantaytambo was another Inca royal state, also built under Inca Pachacutec rule. During the Spanish conquest, Ollantaytambo was used as a fortress by Manco Inca, before retreating to Vilcabamba.

On the second day, you’ll visit the astonishing Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is only accesible after traveling by train to Aguas Calientes town.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes town

Pisac

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 am and then we’ll drive to Pisac. The archaeological site of Pisac is a large Inca complex that oversees the Sacred Valley. It’s buildings were used as residences for the Inca royal family. We’ll have a tour of Pisac and then we’ll visit the nearby town, which is also named Pisac. On weekends, the local population sets up a flea market on the main square of the town.

Urubamba

After exploring Pisac, we’ll drive to Urubamba town, which is located in the lowest section of the Sacred Valley. There we’ll have a buffet lunch at a traditional restaurant.

Ollantaytambo

Our next stop will be Ollantaytambo. Like Pisac, Ollantaytambo was a royal state of the Inca nobility. However, the construction of the site was never finished. Nowadays, it’s still possible to see some of unfinished stone blocks lying around the site. After the guided tour of Ollantaytambo, you’ll take a train to Aguas Calientes town.

Aguas Calientes

Aguas Calientes is a small town that serves as the entry point to Machu Picchu. Once you arrive there, our staff will transfer you to your hotel. Then you’ll have free time to explore the town and visit the hot springs.

Day 2Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

You’ll wake up early in the morning to have breakfast. Then you’ll take a bus to Machu Picchu citadel. The bus trip takes between 30 and 40 minutes. Once in Machu Picchu, our staff will help you to pass the security checkpoint. Then, our guided tour will begin.

You’ll explore the most famous buildings of Machu Picchu, including the Main Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Temple of the Condor, the Intihuatana and much more. If you have purchased a ticket to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, our staff will guide you to the respective entrance.

After the tour, we’ll take the bus back to Aguas Calientes. You can have lunch at one of the traditional restaurants of the town, however the lunch is not included in the tour price.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll board a train to Ollantaytambo, where our staff will transfer you back to Cusco city. We’ll be arriving in Cusco around 9:00 pm.
