The Sacred Valley of the Incas is located in the provinces of Calca and Urubamba, in the region of Cusco, Peru. It had a great importance during the Inca Empire because it was the main source of food for the Inca population. I features numerous Inca archaeological sites, including Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Chinchero, Maras and Moray.

Your hotel in Cusco
7:00 am
Pisac
We’ll pick you up from your hotel at 7:00 am. Then we’ll drive to the Taray viewpoint before reaching Pisac. Pisac is a Inca site built during the reign of Inca Pachacutec. It served as a resting place for the Inca royalty and as a astronomical observatory. We’ll visit the archaeological complex and then we’ll go to the nearby town, which is also named Pisac.
Urubamba
After exploring Pisac, we’ll drive to Urubamba town, which is located in the lowest part of the Sacred Valley. Here we’ll be having lunch.
Ollantaytambo
Our next stop will be Ollantaytambo. The construction of Ollantaytambo was ordered by Inca Pachacutec. It served as a temple until the Spanish conquest, when Manco Inca repurposed Ollantaytambo as a fortress. Ollantaytambo is famous for its magnificent stone buildings and terraces.
Maras, Moray and Chinchero
Next, we’ll visit Moray. This archaeological site features concentrical agricultural terraces, which were used by the Incas to grow crops from other regions. Then, we’ll go to Maras, home of the pink salt mines. Maras comprises numerous water wells, which after being exposed to sunlight during hours produce pink salt. This mineral is later gathered by the local population. The salt mines of Maras create a unique landscape perfect for taking photographs.
Finally, we’ll drive to Chinchero town. Here we’ll visit the colonial church, which hosts beautiful paintings and sculptures. We’ll also explore the town and the local market.
Afterwards, we’ll return to Cusco.
From the ancient ruins of Moray to the colorful markets of the Sacred Valley, it was a great way to learn about the history and culture of the area. The scenery was stunning and I felt completely immersed in the beauty of the Peruvian landscape. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience.
