Tour Details

Vinicunca is mountain located in the province of Canchis, in Cusco, Peru. It’s internationally famous for its surface covered in stripes of different colors. The most popular route to Vinicunca starts in Cusco city, followed by a two hours drive to the trail head. Once there, visitors must walk about 5 km to reach the summit of Vinicunca.

Itinerary

Full DayRainbow Mountain Vinicunca Trek

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:30 am. Then we’ll drive to Cusipata town, where we’ll have breakfast. Afterwards, we’ll go to the trail head to Vinicunca. Following a safety briefing, we’ll begin our short trek to Vinicunca. Numerous alpaca and llama farms can be seen along the trail.

We’ll reach the summit of Vinicunca after trekking for around 2 hours. Once there, our tour guide will explain to you the history of Vinicunca and the Andean rituals that are performed to honored the mother earth. You’ll have plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the beautiful landscape. During a clear day, it’s possible to spot the mighty Ausangate Mountain, which is considered an “Apu” or Andean god.

Next, we’ll trek back to Cusipata town, where we’ll have lunch. Finally, we’ll drive back to Cusco city.
